warped hammock

what resonates below
in this bent hull
but a shimmer from above
where the sunlight plays
a humble tune
on tattered strings
stretched all the way out
to a crooked horizon

Here’s a humble tune of hope I sometimes play when I feel like I’m swinging in a warped hammock.

  1. Loved it. Thank you. The ability of human beings to create beauty from words (your poetry), to use imagination (your stories) and music from string and wood (your guitar song) is truly one of the most hopeful things we can hang on to. You are absolutely right to call this post what it is — Hope. May you find hope yourself today, as Dickinson would say, “perched waiting in your soul”.
