I’ve just been rereading a series of articles by David Biespiel that I go to for inspiration and this reminded me of the very first line of the “Preamble”:
“Whether you acid-kick your spirit into some trance of the star-stuff of your imagination….”
This was definitely an acid-kick.
Thanks for the trip.

Yes! I like that article a lot about the imprint of the individual poet’s mind and the effort to get at the core utterance. And of course the acid-kick! 🍄🙏🍄

It’s a great series and one that I regularly refer back to when I need a reminder that the effort (in whatever shape or form it may take) is worthwhile.

Well I hope you keep finding it worthwhile because I look forward to seeing your work every week. I especially liked the garden series because I feel a similar sense of mystery about mine too. 🍄🙏🍄

Beautiful. I laughed at first at “lethal yo-yo,” but then it led my mind to “The Pit and the Pendulum” and the image sobered.

Great reference! That truly resonates with how I felt about the absurdity of fear when that image came to me! Thank you!
